At the Dutch Game Awards we’re always looking for ways to lift up the Dutch game developer community, even outside of awards season. We’ve just discovered a new way we can do that – by partnering with VR Days Europe. The VR Days take place from November 3 to 6 in Amsterdam, transforming the city into a VR Hub via demonstrations, keynotes, expo’s and hands-on sessions.
Two of the DGA winners this year, AH Dino’s and Corpus VR, were virtual reality games and they impressed us with their effective implementation of VR. Many of the contestants also used virtual reality and our jury was treated to a delightfully broad range – from well-being applications like Motivational Walk VR and The Factory Groove, to playful experiments like the swinging experience of To and Fro or the elephant ride in 360 Tropic Degrees. Who knows, VR Days could plant the seeds for some games that we’ll see at the 2017 Dutch Game Awards!
We would be very happy to facilitate any game developers who want to experiment with VR for the first time, or to allow VR veterans to exchange expertise and ideas with fellow creatives from film making & journalism. For this purpose, we’ve created a media partnership with VR Days Europe & can offer our network a discount on the event tickets.
Here are some parts of the VR Days programme that we think could interest you:
A 60 hour VRackathon on themes like ‘augmented morality’ and ‘virtual tombs’
Keynote by Andrew Curtis on ‘Do’s and don’ts for UI in VR’
An Expert Session by Force Field, a retrospective of their first Oculus Rift Game
Keynote ‘Pokemon 2.0’ outlining the state of the art localisation technologies for VR & AR
