Best Student Game: GeoTech is a game that was created for the Hengelo Heim museum with the objective to teach children how Geo Thermal energy is used to power up lasers, bridges and much more. With a 7 Man Team and a production span of 8 weeks we delivered a game that kids love and adults want to play more!
In GeoTech we have a procedural bridge generation system that allows players to cross large gaps, lasers that melt ice to get across bridges and most importantly steam pipes that can be directed to areas around the level! Collectibles across the levels allow players to explore and see the incredibly stunning GeoTech Facility!
From a Technical standpoint, we used an incredibly universal level editor system within Unity that allows designers to create their dream levels without having to program or change any line of code. These features included:
-A node based camera animation system
-Node based pipeline system
-Drag and Drop Interactable system
From a Creative standpoint, we used substance designer and a custom shader to create absolutely stunning visuals that run at an optimal 60FPS. Our animations were fluid and our art style was consistent.
We believe GeoTech deserves this award as it embodies what touch screen gaming can really do to a player, that you don't need to make complex puzzle to make fun puzzle games. We wanted to create a game that was intuitive, child friendly, recognizable and most importantly fun! We'd love to hear more of your feedback and we hope to see you playing our game!
