For the first time the Dutch Game Awards are allowing the public to vote. The winners of these most prestigious awards for the Dutch Game Industry will be presented on 27 September in Utrecht, during the Netherlands Film Festival. There are 14 categories for which a professional jury will determine the winners. The nominations for these categories have been announced earlier in September. The two new Awards, the Gamer.NL Award and the YouTube Choice award by HetGamePortaal, allow the public to participate in choosing the best Dutch games of the past year.
The Gamer.NL Award is being launched in cooperation with the one of the biggest and oldest game sites in the Netherlands. The editors of Gamer.NL will combine their readers’ votes with their editorial preference to pick a winner. In the coming week anybody can vote at the Gamer.NL website for one of the six nominated games, to help decide on the best, most original, and most enjoyable game of the year.
The YouTube Choice Award has been set up in collaboration with Ronald and Timo, the gamers and vloggers at YouTube channel HetGamePortaal. They will pick the most fun and Youtube-worthy games. They have nominated five games that they will play and for which they will share their experiences on their YouTube channel. YouTube has become a big factor in how games are discovered, shared and marketed. This award provides Youtube influencers and their audience the opportunity to determine their own winner at the Dutch Game Awards.
For the past nine years the Dutch Game Awards have rewarded excellent performance within the Dutch Game Industry. They have celebrated the success of Dutch developers and stimulated creativity. The game industry is continuously changing and demanding change; the Awards are no exception, so come on and cast your votes.
