Experience the life of Barbara, an ordinary person with very normal daily rituals… or is there more to it? BARB is a classic first person adventure game revolving the daily routines of Barbara, the player has to do basic tasks around the home of Barbara and slowly gathers information that will reveal the truth.
Best Art Direction: We decided to use an extremely limited palette of colors to create environments in the game. Using these limited colors it's easy to guide players through actions, give hints and distinguish objects from the static environment. The low-poly art style creates stylish visuals while the amount of objects creates cozy, messy and above all living worlds. Using soft tones for game colors it helps convey a more feminine look, which helps story-wise.

Best Applied Game Design: (WARNING - This text may contain spoilers regarding the ending of the game)
While most applied games are easy to read from the start we decided to create a game that does not actively present itself as a serious game and in fact does not do so until the very end. Instead of giving the player pre-knowledge about the subject at hand we hid it in a fairly normal game. This design choice opens the possibility of players changing their opinion on a subject they previously heard about, or even had a negative opinion about.

The game revolves around a transgender theme, without the player being made aware of this until the very end. The player knows nothing about the character he/she plays in the game, and without that knowledge can make their own assumptions. The game proves that these assumptions can sometimes be wrong and opens topics for players to think about, discuss and share.

Best Music & Audio: All sound effects used in the game were made using solely the mouths of voice actors, there are no actual recordings of real life sounds or libraries used to create any of the sound effects. We've chosen this method to add to the low-poly visual style of the game. Using stylish and cartoon-like graphics in combination with high production value sound effects would deduct from the style of the game.
