Aurora is a racing game inspired by the first race we all win in life.
Compete with up to 4 people, race through the beautiful track and try to be the first to reach the end. Swim your way past the others and force them off the screen to eliminate your competition. Boost and drift until you make it to the goal.
Set in a morphing watercolor world Aurora is a simple game with an appealing soundtrack.
Best Student Game: Aurora was started by a team of 3 as a student project at International Game Architecture and Design programme at NHTV, Breda. While keeping the mechanics simple and gameplay minimal, we wanted to create an experience that would accommodate the different tastes of players. There is a simple race for those who are looking for competitive fun, and an artistic experience with a deeper meaning for those who are in for the look and the feels. We feel the game has merit in its art direction as well. Over the course of a study year 2 artists tried to create an environment that looked and felt different by combining traditional art techniques and shaders. Our goal was to capture the allure of paint traversing the water in a digital media, providing an experience both abstract and captivating.Furthermore, for the musical score team OVO collaborated with a young aspiring composer Tim de Jongh whose tracks set the mood for the world of Aurora.
