Best Entertainment Game Design
Zenzizenzic takes the next step in the genre of Shoot 'Em Ups. Although an old and well explored genre, it is often hold back by tried and true conventions. Zenzizenzic aims to go beyond these conventions by offering an adrenaline infused experience that offers a varied challenge to score hungering players. This is done by not only offering a responsive Shoot 'Em Up experience with modern mechanics, but also by adding a rogue-like inspired, open world game mode called Macro to the mix.

Best Art Direction
Zenzizenzic features a simple, but effective art style. Derivative of the prototype graphics it started with, it slowly over time evolved to what is presented today. Using the square, the most supreme of geometrical shapes, as a baseline, every bullet, enemy, boss, geography is built upon that simple shape. Through the simplicity and symmetry of the square, complexity is achieved in the bright and vibrant presentation of Zenzizenzic. It is an abstract style that is effective for the genre, as it makes it clearly visible what is dangerous on the screen, while at the same time offering a pleasant and colorful explosion on the screen.

Best Technical Achievement
This is the first game the developer, Ruud Koorevaar, has made, ever. He didn't know anything about game design and development when starting out, except for what he had garnered over 15-20 years of playing games. Zenzizenzic may not be the most technically advanced game, but it is a prime example of what can be achieved with the tools available today by someone who has no prior experience in the field at all. If anything, it is a testament to the tools present today as to what the possibilities are to anyone who has the motivation and persistence to make them work.
