This is the only Wild West simulator for you to write your own Western in. We give you the basics and you author the rest with your actions, the world adapts to you and we help push you along. Knotting it all up with a satisfying ending tailored to your play-style and choices.

Best Entertainment Game Design
The value in Westerado: Double Barreled's game design comes from giving freedom to the player to interpret the story in their own way. Creating building blocks for an emergent narrative of the player's own design and leaving out a strict authorial narrative. There is a rich tapestry of interactions that gives the player a sense of consistency that they then fill the blanks with to create their own story.
Mechanically, the player has the option to draw their gun in any situation and kill anyone, which triggers npc's to react, dialogues to progress and narratives to change. Visually, the murderer can look like anyone due to the low pixel-ratio, from wanted bandits to major npc's or even hired allies. The main narrative is systemic allowing the player to get clues from any character, location or plot, while characters themselves often have multiple parallel and branching side-stories. The murderer's motivation changes based on the mechanical actions of the player and the plots they choose to follow, bringing a relevant and rewarding ending to each playthrough.

Best Art Direction
Since winning Best Art Direction in 2013, Westerado's artist, Jordi Boin, has refined the rough, dusty pixels of the first game. Bringing a higher level of detail to the trademark bright yellow plains, while retaining the minimalistic style and vibrant colour palette.
Double Barreled's world is much larger in size and ambition, adding cold mines, windy mountain tops, scorching deserts, lush riverside woods and a lively military fort. Each environment has its own distinct colour palette and props to set an immersive ambience.
Westerado: Double Barreled's art style sets a tone for the narrative and folds the mystery of backstories and hidden agenda into the pixel style. Its rough edges and dark shadows mirror the essence of the Wild West itself.

The music of Westerado: Double Barreled is instantly memorable and creates an atmosphere for adventure. Sam van Lonkhuyzen has captured a wide variety of influences with homages to both western films and retro adventure games, mixing the 2 influences into a cohesive soundtrack.
Each area is accompanied by its own track to suit the mood. The scorching hot desert with its heat-drunk trumpet, the dark ominous caves and their deep base line, or the Fort and its military cadence, each one providing the atmosphere to build on the locations unique character.
