Registration opens for the Dutch Game Awards 2011

This year the fourth edition of the Dutch Game Awards will be awarded during the event Game in the City on November 24 and 25 in Amersfoort. The Dutch Game Awards is a showcase of the Achievements of the Dutch Game Industry, highlighting both the quality and quantity of games produced in the Netherlands. The purpose of the Awards is to spotlight the achievements of the Dutch Game industry and to promote The Netherlands as a game development country to the world.

The Dutch Game Awards will be awarded in 12 different categories. The category Best Student Game is created for students. This category is now open for registration to give students the opportunity to register before the start of the summer holidays.

Last year a student team of the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU) won the prestigious Best Student Award with their game Paper Cakes. The team also received the award for Best Original Game Design.

The award for Best Student Game is open to any game developed by students who, on completion of the game, were registered as a student at a Dutch educational institution. A playable demo version of the game must be available. Registration until September 19, 2011.
